Custom Gunite Pools

What is a gunite pool, and how is it different from a fiberglass pool?

A gunite pool is built on site by spraying a concrete and sand mixture over a steel rebar frame, then finishing it with plaster, pebble, or tile. Because the shell is formed in place rather than dropped in as one piece, gunite pools can be built in almost any shape, depth, or size, which is why most fully custom pools are gunite.

How long does it take to build a custom gunite pool?

Gunite construction happens in stages: excavation, steel and plumbing, gunite application, tile and coping, decking, and finally plaster and startup, with a curing period between several of those steps. Because of that step-by-step process, a gunite build generally takes longer than a fiberglass installation. We will give you a realistic schedule specific to your design once we walk your site.

Can I customize the shape, depth, and features of a gunite pool?

Yes. Since the shell is formed on site, gunite gives you the most design freedom of any pool type. That includes custom shapes, varying depths, tanning ledges, spas, sheer descent water walls, and features like fire bowls or swim-up bars integrated directly into the design.

What kind of finishes and tile options are available for gunite pools?

We offer plaster, pebble, and quartz interior finishes in a range of colors, along with glass, porcelain, and natural stone tile for the waterline and accent bands. We will walk through samples with you so you can see how a finish will actually look once the pool is filled.

Fiberglass Pools

What are the advantages of a fiberglass pool?

Fiberglass pools arrive as a single pre-manufactured shell, so the pool surface is smooth, non-porous, and resistant to algae growth. Installation is faster than gunite, and the consistent factory finish means less texture wear over time compared to plaster.

How long does fiberglass pool installation take?

The shell itself can go into the ground in a day or two once the site is excavated, but a full install still includes plumbing, decking, and equipment hookup, so plan for several weeks from start to a finished, swimmable pool rather than a single afternoon.

What shapes and sizes are available in fiberglass pools?

Fiberglass pools come in a set catalog of manufactured shapes and sizes rather than being built to a fully custom design. We carry a range of models with different depths, tanning ledges, and built-in bench seating, and can walk you through which models fit your yard and how you plan to use the pool.

Is a fiberglass pool more affordable than gunite?

It depends on the size and features you want, but fiberglass often has a lower installed cost than a comparably sized gunite pool because of the shorter construction timeline and lower labor requirements. We can price out both options side by side so you can compare for your specific project.

Pool Renovations

How do I know if my pool needs a renovation instead of a repair?

A repair usually addresses one specific issue, like a cracked tile line or a failing pump. A renovation is the right call when the plaster is worn and staining, the pool's look feels dated, or you want to add features like a tanning ledge, spa, or new water feature that were not part of the original design. If you are not sure which one you need, we can take a look and tell you honestly.

What does a typical pool renovation include?

Renovations can be as simple as a resurface and new tile, or as involved as reshaping steps, adding a sun shelf or spa, upgrading equipment, and re-decking the entire patio. We will scope the project around what is actually worn out or what you want changed, not push a bigger job than you need.

Can you convert an old pool to a modern finish or add features like a sun shelf?

In most cases, yes. Adding a sun shelf, spa, or water feature to an existing pool usually means cutting into the existing shell and rebuilding that section, which is more involved than a straight resurface, but it is a common renovation request and one we can plan around your existing layout.

Do renovations require the same permitting as new construction?

It depends on the scope. A resurface or equipment swap typically does not require the same permitting as new construction, but structural changes like adding a shelf, spa, or expanding the pool's footprint usually do. We handle the permitting for any work that requires it as part of the project.

Outdoor Living

What outdoor living features do you build alongside a pool?

We build covered pavilions, outdoor kitchens and bars, stone fireplaces, pergolas, turf yards, and shaded lounge areas designed to work with the pool's layout instead of feeling like a separate project bolted on afterward.

Can outdoor living additions be built after the pool is finished?

Yes. While it is easiest to plan a pavilion, kitchen, or fireplace at the same time as the pool so the layout works together from the start, we regularly add outdoor living features to pools we did not originally build.

Do you build covered pavilions, outdoor kitchens, and fireplaces?

Yes, those are some of the most common outdoor living additions we build. See a few examples of finished pavilions and outdoor kitchens in our project gallery.

Pool Service & Maintenance

What does routine pool maintenance include?

Routine service typically covers water testing and chemical balancing, skimming and brushing, filter cleaning, and checking that pumps, heaters, and automation equipment are running correctly.

How often should my pool be serviced?

Most residential pools are serviced weekly, especially during swim season, though some owners choose a biweekly schedule during cooler months. We can recommend a schedule based on your pool's size, equipment, and how much it is used.

Do you offer one-time cleanings or only ongoing service plans?

We offer both. If your pool just needs to be brought back into shape after being neglected or after an event, we can handle a one-time cleaning. For pools that need regular upkeep, we also offer ongoing weekly or biweekly service plans.

What should I do if my equipment (pump, filter, heater) stops working?

Turn off the affected equipment if it is making unusual noise or visibly leaking, and give us a call. Our certified technicians can diagnose most pump, filter, and heater issues and let you know whether it needs a repair or a replacement.

Commercial Pools

Do you build and service pools for HOAs, apartments, and other commercial properties?

Yes. We build and maintain pools for HOA communities, apartment complexes, and other commercial properties across Central Texas, in addition to residential backyard pools.

What certifications do your technicians hold for commercial pool work?

Our team includes an APSP Certified Building Professional and a Certified Pool Operator through the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance, along with APSP membership, which supports the code and safety standards commercial pool work is held to.

Can you handle both new commercial pool construction and ongoing maintenance contracts?

Yes. We can take on a new commercial pool build from design through construction, and we also offer ongoing maintenance contracts for properties that need consistent, code-compliant upkeep after the pool is finished.
